Time Life Nature series of books, they come once a month. My parents bought this for me when I was 6 or so and I learned more about science from them than I ever did in primary school.
I think they still publish them, this was over 40 years ago, but I absolutely loved them and waited for the post with excitment every month for years.I still have them all and they are to this day good reference.
