Unique baby shower gifts -
Prepare a scrapbook for the mother with pages for things like “first tooth” and “first haircut”. All the busy new mom has to do is put in the pictures.
The little photo albums available at Babies R Us and Buy Buy Baby with titles like “Who Loves Baby?” are cute and babies love them. Fill them with pictures of close family members or your group of friends.
“Baby’s First” bibs for all the holidays- Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, 4th of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas
theme gift like a baby bath tub filled with hooded towels, wash cloths, baby body wash, baby shampoo, bath toys, etc.

car seat
pack and play
diaper bag
crib
changing table
high chair

I don’t have children, but I’ve been to many showers for friends. The most useful gifts I’ve seen are portable cribs and travel changing surfaces. The most unique I’ve seen done was a painting made to hang in the nursery based on the children’s book ‘Curious George’.

You could also add little toys, baby shampoos, etc onto the diaper cake.
While many of the frilly little outfits are wonderful it’s best to stick with straightforward things. Sometimes the frilly outfits are saved just for photographs. When choosing baby outfits it is a smart idea to buy things one size bigger than the baby will wear immediately. Remember to consider the season it’s going to be when the baby is likely to wear them. Almost all of the time fogeys need outfits the baby can wear all the time. Cute small onesies, pajamas and playsuits will get heaps of use.
